Since Apple announced support back in June 2021, thousands of new recordings as well as back-catalogue are being uploaded in Atmos to streaming services every day. From established artists as well as legends like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock and famous classical conductors all the way to EDM.

As with any new technological developments of this kind, there are new concepts to learn and develop. For example, in western classical music there is an established spatial concept as from which direction the sound of each instrument should be received by the listener. Any alteration of this order could risk making the exercise gimmicky.
However, genres like EDM, even some tribal African or Asian music, haven’t got any preconceived notions as to where in the room an instrument should be placed. Or where within the ensemble the listener should be placed to enjoy such experience, so the creative possibilities are endless.
